SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg women's basketball red-shirt freshman forward Jenny Cunningham (McVeytown/Lewistown) totaled her first career double double, but it wasn't enough as Edinboro scored 30 points off of 23 Shippensburg turnovers en route to a 65-53 victory over the Lady Raiders Saturday afternoon at Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (14-8, 4-3 PSAC West) lost its third game out of the last four after starting conference play with three consecutive wins. With the loss, the Lady Raiders now find themselves in a three-way tie for second in the Western Division with Edinboro and California (Pa.). Indiana (Pa.) is in first with a 5-1 conference record.

In addition to committing 23 turnovers, Shippensburg shot just 33.3-percent from the floor and made only14-of-25 free throw attempts. Meanwhile, the Lady Raiders did manage to dominate the boards, holding a 50-29 edge in rebounding.

Edinboro (12-9, 4-3 PSAC West), who won for just the second time at Heiges Field House in its last 10 games, took a 10-point halftime lead, 34-24, after forcing 12 turnovers and holding the Lady Raiders to 29.60-percent shooting. Prior to this afternoon, the Fighting Scots' last win on the road in the series came on Jan. 24, 2004 in a 56-51 decision.

The two-time PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Week, Cunningham totaled a team-high 17 points to go along with a career-high 14 rebounds while senior center Shanna Oaddams (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) picked up her 29th career double double with 10 points and game-high 16 rebounds. Oaddams now has 921 career rebounds and is looking to become just the second player in school history to reach 1,000.

The Fighting Scots would stretch its lead to as many as 18 with 13:14 remaining in the second half before Shippensburg cut the lead to six, 51-45 with 4:16 to play on a jumper by Cunningham. However, back-to-back three-pointers by Rae Sherred pushed the Edinboro lead to 10 with under two minutes left.

The Lady Raiders would get back to within six on a three-pointer by freshman forward Lauren Beckley (Fairfield/Fairfield) with 1:03 to play, but the Fighting Scots would make 6-of-8 attempts from the free throw line in the final 52 seconds to preserve their fourth-straight win. Beckley finished with 15 points.

Shippensburg's starters combined for 49 of the team's 53 points as sophomore guard Phylicia Bessick (Columbia/Hempfield) was the only Lady Raider to score off the bench as she finished with four points.

After being held to just four points in the first meeting between these two teams, Edinboro's Kelly Calderone finished with a game-high 19 on Saturday. Calderone entered today's game ranked second in the PSAC in scoring at 19.1 points per game, right behind Beckley who was averaging 20.0 per game.

Calderone led four Fighting Scots in double figures as Samantha Reimer added 14 points while Sherred and Rachel Johnson had 13 and 11, respectively.

Shippensburg returns to action on Wednesday, hosting its third consecutive opponent at Heiges Field House when it welcomes Lock Haven for a 6:00 p.m., tip-off. The Lady Eagles, who lost at home to the Lady Raiders 69-63 back on January 17, defeated Slippery Rock at home on Saturday, 64-55.
