SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's soccer team lost its fifth consecutive game by one goal on Saturday night, as a late goal from Kyleigh Roth in the 106th minute gave visiting Lock Haven a 1-0 victory at David See Field. The Lady Raiders have now dropped seven of their last eight games after starting the season 5-1.
Shippensburg (6-8) had its best chance to score approximately 10 minutes into the second half, when the Lady Raiders strung together three corner kicks in a 2:16 span but could not connect for a goal.
On the first of those corner kicks, sophomore Lauren Estrain sent a ball into the box to freshman Lisa Findley, who fired a shot that was ultimately stopped by a Bald Eagle defender and cleared out of the box.
Junior #Beth Long# was once again busy in goal for the Lady Raiders, making eight saves that helped keep Shippensburg in the game. Senior #Mallory Skipp# also made a key stop in the first half that kept the game scoreless.
Lock Haven (7-7-1) out-shot Shippensburg 23-14 in the contest, including 19-11 in regulation. Sophomore Gayle Kuntzmann led the Lady Raiders with three shots on goal.
Shippensburg will look to end its losing streak on Wednesday, when the Lady Raiders travel to West Chester for a 4:30 p.m. match in a return to PSAC Eastern Division play. Shippensburg defeated West Chester 1-0 in overtime back on Sept. 6 in the team's previous meeting this season.
