SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - In front of several former high school teammates and hometown fans, Shippensburg women's basketball freshman forward Lauren Beckley (Fairfield/Fairfield) totaled her fourth career double double with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in a 74-46 PSAC crossover victory over Cheyney on Sunday afternoon at Heiges Field House.

The Lady Raiders (11-5), who tied a season-high with their fourth-straight win, also won their eighth in the last nine while improving their mark to 6-1 against the PSAC Eastern Division. The team was 5-2 against the Eastern Division a year ago.

For Beckley, she flirted with a triple-double, totaling six of Shippensburg's 14 steals as the Lady Raiders forced 22 turnovers while holding the Wolves to 32.2-percent shooting from the floor. It also marked the eighth time this season that Shippensburg held its opponent to 60 points or less, including the fourth consecutive game.

Senior center Shanna Oaddams (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) nearly totaled her 31st career double double with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard Megan Fogle (Wrightsville/Eastern York) had five points, four assists and three steals.

Leading 20-17 midway through the first half, Shippensburg blew the game open with a 6-0 run to take a nine-point lead with 7:13 remaining. The Lady Raiders would extend that to 12 before taking a 37-27 halftime lead.

Oaddams scored 10 of her 18 in the first half while Beckley totaled nine points and six rebounds. Also, red-shirt freshman forward Jenny Cunningham (McVeytown/Lewistown) totaled seven of her nine points in 10 first half minutes,

Cheyney (3-10) would cut the lead to nine, 45-36 with 13:13 to play in the second half, but Shippensburg answered with a 15-2 run over the next 5:03, during which, the Lady Raiders held the Wolves without a field goal for a span of 5:13.

With 47 seconds remaining in the game, Shippensburg freshman guard Sheila Wasser (Tremont/Pine Grove) scored on a layup off an offensive rebound for her first career field goal, giving the Lady Raiders their largest lead of the game at 28 points, 74-46.

In shooting just 32-percent from the floor, the Wolves made just 30.4-percent of their attempts in the second half while being outscored, 37-19. Cheyney trailed for the entire game with the exception of the first 55 seconds when it led 3-0 following a three-pointer by Danielle Jones.

Jones led the Wolves with 12 points while Ngozi Utti added 11, along with six blocks and three rebounds. Lillian Penn led the team with seven rebounds.

Shippensburg returns to PSAC Western Division play on Wednesday when it travels to Lock Haven for a 6:00 p.m., tip-off from Thomas Fieldhouse. The game can be heard live on Shippensburg University student radio station WSYC 88.7 FM and on the internet at raiders.ship.edu.
