SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Andrea Kauffman and Nylia Zamora each totaled double doubles to lead Shepherd to a 74-63 victory over Shippensburg on Tuesday night at the Butcher Center.

Kauffman and Camille Wilmer each had 12 points to lead five Rams (1-2) in double figures as they picked up their first win of the season and avenged a 96-77 road loss to the Lady Raiders last season. The 5-7 Kauffman also added a game-high 13 rebounds, including nine offensive, while Zamora added 10 rebounds.

Shippensburg (1-2), who was severely outrebounded by Shepherd 53-35, surrendered 23 offensive rebounds which led to 22 second chance points. The Lady Raiders were also hampered at the free throw line, making just 9-of-22 attempts for 40.9-percent.

Senior Shanna Oaddams (Willingboro/Willingboro) led Shippensburg with a game-high 15 points and team-high nine rebounds, but was 1-of-6 from the free throw line.

While the Rams did a great job on the offensive glass, they also did a good job containing 2005 PSAC Western Division Rookie of the Year and 2006 All-PSAC Western Division Second Team selection, sophomore Megan Fogle, holding her to just seven points. She did, however, contribute six rebounds and three assists.

A year ago, Fogle ranked fifth in the conference in scoring at 15.3 points, but in the Lady Raiders' two losses this season, has averaged just 4.5 points while shooting 3-of-20 from the field, including 1-of-12 from three-point range. Last season, she was held below 10 points only three times in 27 games, but has already been held below 10 twice this year.

As a team in its two losses, Shippensburg has made only 22-of-45 free throw attempts while making just 9-of-37 shots from three-point range. The Lady Raiders have also committed 42 turnovers and been outrebounded, 92-72 in those two contests. However, in tonight's loss, Shippensburg had just 15 turnovers.

Meanwhile, freshman Lauren Beckley (Fairfield/Fairfield) continued her strong start to her first collegiate season, reaching double figures for the third-straight game with 11 points. Through three games, she leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.3 points.

After trailing by as many as eight in the first half and five at halftime, Shippensburg would take just its third lead of the game at 37-36 following a three-pointer by freshman Michelle Metz (Pottsgrove/Pottsgrove) with 17:14 left that capped an 8-2 run to start the second half.

The Lady Raiders would tie the game at 43-43 with 12:47 remaining on a lay-up by sophomore Phylicia Bessick (Columbia/Hempfield), but Shepherd would go on a 15-4 run over the next 4:59 to take an 11-point lead, 58-47 at 7:48.

Bessick finished with a season-high nine points while freshman Kendra Lehman (Shippensburg/Shippensburg) added a career-high eight in her third collegiate game.

For Shepherd, Laura Harkins and Krissy Grosselin each had 11 points.

Shippensburg will have the next four days off for the Thanksgiving holiday before hosting Charleston (WV) at Heiges Field House on Sunday, November 26. Last season, the Golden Eagles won the NCAA East Region championship and advanced to the Elite Eight, finishing with a 31-3 record and ranked No. 6 in the final coaches' poll.
