Amanda (Fenn) Addlesberger, a 2006 graduate of Shippensburg University, is in her fifth season as the head women’s tennis coach at her alma mater.
Addlesberger, a three-year letterwinner in tennis and swimming at SU who competed in more than 30 tennis matches from 2002-05, was named to the position on Sept. 19, 2011 and served as the acting head coach through August 2012.
In her inaugural season, Addlesberger guided an SU squad that won more points in PSAC divisional matches than it had in six years. In the 2013-14 season, Addlesberger instructed Julia Saintz, who produced a winning streak in singles play of six matches – the longest by an SU player in eight years. The feat was especially impressive as no SU player had recorded more than five total wins during any of the last seven seasons. Saintz’s nine wins on the year were the most by a Raider since 2006.
As a student-athlete, Addlesberger represented Shippensburg in several matches at the PSAC Tennis Championships in various flights of play. In swimming, she was a PSAC place-winner in the 100-yard butterfly. During her career as a student-athlete, she was active with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Tau Kappa, women’s athletics honors sorority.
Prior to her arrival at Shippensburg University, Addlesberger was the head swimming and diving coach at Shippensburg Area Senior High School from 2005-11. She continues to work as an assistant swimming coach with the Chambersburg Chargers. Addlesberger also has experience as a tennis instructor at various camps throughout the state of Pennsylvania.
Addlesberger is in her ninth year of teaching in the Shippensburg Area School District. She is a third-grade teacher and special education support coordinator at James Burd Elementary School. Her specialty is reading and language arts.
In addition to her bachelor of science in education from Shippensburg, she received her masters of science in education from Wilkes University in 2009, majoring in educational development and strategies. Addlesberger graduated cum laude from Shippensburg while majoring in elementary education and maintained a perfect grade-point average while at Wilkes.
Addlesberger is also a certified personal fitness trainer through American Aerobic Association International (AAAI) and the International Sports Medicine Association (ISMA).
A native of Glenmoore, Addlesberger is a graduate of Downingtown High School. In August 2014, she married Anthony Addlesberger.
