Women’s Basketball Announces Eight Recruits for 2013-14 Season

Incoming class to complement seven returning players from last year’s 20-8 campaign

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team and head coach Kristy Trn '93/'94M have announced the signing of eight players for the 2013-14 season.

The signees will join a group of seven returning players that includes All-PSAC senior guard Sarah Strybuc and reigning PSAC East Freshman of the Year Stephanie Knauer.

SU went 20-8 last season for its first 20-win campaign since 2001-02 and finished second in the PSAC Eastern Division behind conference champion Bloomsburg.

Ariana Foote
Freshman • Forward • 6-0
Reisterstown, Md./Franklin

Franklin High School:
Averaged 12.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and nearly eight blocks per game in four varsity seasons with the Indians under head coach Denikwa James…honored with an All-Baltimore County and All-Division First Team selection after her senior season…received All-County and All-Division Second Team honors after her junior season…earned the Indian Award as Franklin High School's MVP following her junior season…named the MVP of the 2010-11 Holiday Tournament…also played volleyball.

Personal: Full name is Ariana Nicole Foote…is the daughter of Darren Foote and Zina Williams-Foote…plans to major in marketing…has a brother, Darren Jr.

Freshman • Guard • 5-5
Elkins Park/Abington Friends

Abington Friends School:
Earned two varsity letters with the Kangaroos under coach Jeff Bond…was tri-captain of 20-win team, most successful in school's history…averaged 17.4 points, 3.5 steals and 3.4 assists per game as a varsity starter…posted double figures in 25 games…selected to All-Friends Schools League First Team…named MVP of the 2012 Solebury Spartan Classic and AFS Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament…scored 30 points twice in her career…averaged 84 percent from the free-throw line…played for club team Philly Triple Threat and coach Dave Bass.

Personal: Full name is Lauren Marissa Gold…is the daughter of Michael and Carmen Gold…plans to major in exercise science…has four siblings: Kristen, Erin, Devin and Camryn – all of whom play basketball.

Freshman • Forward • 6-0
Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg Area

Hollidaysburg Area High School:
Earned four varsity letters with the Tigers under coach Deanna Jubeck…earned All-State Third Team honors for 'AAAA' schools…averaged 14.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as a senior…named the 2013 Altoona Mirror Player of the Year…totaled 1,025 career points…squad went 22-3 and won first 6-AAAA championship since 1991…played for club team Freedom under coach Art Taneyhill, a former SU standout.

Personal: Full name is Morgan Abigail Griffith…is the daughter of Steve and Robin Patton…undecided on a major…has two sisters, Lindsey and Taylor.

Lansdale/Archbishop Wood

Archbishop Wood High School:
Was a four-year varsity starter for the Vikings under coach Jim Ricci…earned All-Catholic League Second Team honors as a senior point guard…won three consecutive state 'AAA' championships from freshman to junior year…played for club team Mid-Atlantic Magic under coach Mike McDonald…totaled 10 varsity letters, including four in basketball, four in soccer and two in softball…named the Catholic League MVP in soccer as a senior and was a First Team honoree as a junior…held distinguished honors and second honors academically as a senior.

Personal: Full name is Jackie Marie Pierson…is the daughter of Frank and Teresa Pierson…undecided on a major…has three brothers: Frank, Tim and Scott.

Accrued four varsity letters with the Vikings under coach Jim Ricci…received All-Catholic League honorable mention…named Hoops for Hope Classic MVP…competed with the 2011 Philadelphia Belles Nike Elite Team…won three consecutive state 'AAA' championships from freshman to junior year…was a senior captain…earned the Markward Club Award…played for club team Fencor under coach Steve Chapman…achieved First and Second honors academically…also played volleyball.

Personal: Full name is Haley Shae Scullion…is the daughter of Jerry and Mary Jane Scullion…undecided on a major…has a brother, Kyle.

Alexia Servello
Freshman • Guard • 5-5
Altoona/Hollidaysburg Area

Hollidaysburg Area High School:
Totaled three varsity letters as a guard – one with the Tigers under coach Deanna Jubeck and two at Altoona High School…averaged six points, five assists and two steals per game as a senior…named McKeesport Tournament MVP in junior season while averaging 6.7 points and 5.0 assists per game…cited for her ball-handling skills…also competed in track & field.

Personal: Full name is Alexia Marie Servello…is the daughter of Gibby and Rose Servello…undecided on a major…has three siblings: Kristie, Chris and Aaron…father Gibby earned football scholarship to Saint Francis…uncle Buddy Geis was quarterbacks coach with Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys.

Logan Snyder
Freshman • Guard • 5-6
Lewistown/Mifflin County


Mifflin County High School: Earned four varsity letters with the Huskies under head coach Kevin Kodish…surpassed the 1,000-point plateau, averaging 12 points per game…finished as team's leading rebounder as a junior…named Mountain League MVP as a sophomore…chosen as a multiple tournament MVP…totaled 10 varsity letters between basketball, soccer, volleyball and track & field…was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Full name is Logan Nicole Snyder…is the daughter of Ryan and Candy Snyder… plans to major in management…has three siblings: Arika, Jenna and Mason.
