SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University baseball team was unanimously selected Monday to maintain its top ranking in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Poll and is nationally ranked in four prominent polls.
Shippensburg (9-2), fresh off a series victory over Atlantic Region No. 2 Slippery Rock, is now ranked No. 16 in the Baseball News (ABCA) poll, No. 14 in the D2BaseballNews.com poll and No. 21 in the CollegeBaseballLineup.com poll. The NCBWA national poll is released on Tuesday.
SU is hitting .321 as a team and has out-scored the opposition 65-31 thus far. On the mound, the Raiders have pitched in turn to a 3.15 earned-run averages while starters
Pat Kregeloh,
Tom Bush and
Shawn Patterson have combined for an 8-1 record.
Three players are hitting over .400, including senior catcher
Tyler Shover - who has reached base in 10 consecutive games. Kregeloh has six multiple-hit games this season to pace the squad.
Shippensburg will host LeMoyne, the reigning NE-10 Champions, in a pair of doubleheaders this weekend at Fairchild Field. First pitch on Saturday and Sunday is slated for noon.
