The Shippensburg University women's cross country team received All-Academic status Monday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) while six individuals also earned recognition.

Katie Spratford and sophomore
Heather Weiss.
Shippensburg was recognized for the fifth consecutive year and possesses a 3.41 cumulative team GPA. A total of 127 institutions represent 23 conferences that compose the group. The PSAC claimed 15 squads on the All-Academic list to lead all conferences. The Northeast-10 followed with 12.
Eight of the top ten finishing teams at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships earned All-Academic status. Of the 32 teams that participated in the national meet, 27 of those earned All-Academic status.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have compiled a team score at their respective NCAA regional championship.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team in Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater through the most-recent semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of cross country competition, and placed in the top 50 percent at the most recent NCAA National Championships or finish in the top 30 percent of all athletes eligible to compete at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Shippensburg won its fifth consecutive NCAA Atlantic Region Championship this season. Spratford won the annual 6K race in 20:20. Raudabaugh placed 11th (21:35), Shank was one spot behind in the same time, Pryor finished 17th (21:53), Weiss earned 29th place (22:11) and Perry took 40th place (22:30).
