Riley Bowen was recently recognized with an NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award after a national committee selected him on the basis of academic performance, athletic achievement and involvement in campus and community activities.
The Division II Degree-Completion Award program helps student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility with tuition to complete their undergraduate degree. This fall, Bowen will be completing his degree in mathematics and education.
In November, Bowen was named to the 2010-11 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Football Second Team with a 3.36 cumulative grade-point average. He finished his senior season with a team-high 69 tackles - a tally that included a team-high 11.5 tackles for loss.
A four-year regular as a linebacker for the Red Raider football team, Bowen was a two-time All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Teamer who totaled 227 tackles in 45 career games. His career totals included 32.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, three forced fumbles, three interceptions and four fumble recoveries.
