SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — The Shippensburg University football team opened the 2017 season on Wednesday with a sprint session that began at 9:30 a.m. at SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. It was the first official practice of the season.
Players participated in sprints before breaking into groups for organized drills that included fielding kickoffs and punts, blocking, learning defensive schemes and numerous offensive drills. The practice was the first of the preseason that leads into the start of the fall semester, which begins August 28
.
The Red Raiders will continue to practice leading up to their season opener Saturday, Sept. 2 at home against American International.
