SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team and the SU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted Make-A-Wish recipient Jay Dawson on Saturday at its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at Robb Sports Complex.
Â
Dawson, 6, was the recipient of a Make-A-Wish reveal at an SU basketball game in February 2016. He was afforded the opportunity to visit the Orlando theme parks with his family, and on Saturday, he came back to campus to spend a day with the student-athletes and share some of the memories of his experience.
Â
Tiffany Dawson '05, Jay's mother, spoke to the crowd at halftime about their Make-A-Wish experience.
Â
"It was a great experience," Tiffany Dawson said. "We were able to put everything behind us, leave everything home in Pennsylvania, and head to the Sunshine State. From the limousine ride that picked us up at our home on the day we left, to the day the limousine dropped us off, there was not one moment that wasn't magical."
Â
Among Jay's activities on Saturday included interaction with the lacrosse team during pre-game warmups and introductions along with time spent during the game with SAAC members. Head Coach
Nicole Miller presented Jay with his own stick, which was even checked by a referee before the game.
