LeQuan Chapman of the Shippensburg University men's track & field team was named the 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year on Friday evening. Voting was conducted by the region's coaches.
Chapman, the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships Overall MVP, won conference titles in the triple jump and the long jump and contributed to the 4x100-meter relay that placed second.
This season, Chapman achieved lifetime PRs in both jumping events, hitting his new triple jump standard at the PSAC meet and his long jump best at Bucknell.
Next week, Chapman will be compete in both jumps at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time. Last season, Chapman was an outdoor All-American in the long jump, placing sixth.
