SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University chapter of Tau Kappa (women's athletics honors sorority) is hosting its fifth annual "Project Prom Dress" event. "Project Prom Dress" will be held Saturday, March 21 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. inside Heiges Field House.
Proceeds from this year's event will be given to a local charity.
This event is designed to make it easier for teen girls in local areas to attend their high school formals by lessening their financial burden. Tau Kappa wants to help make memories that will last a lifetime.
Items for sale will include gently used prom dresses, homecoming dresses, purses, dress shoes and jewelry.
In order to make this year just as successful as in the past, Tau Kappa is looking for donations of the items listed above. There will be a box placed outside the administrative offices in Heiges Field House for donations, but looking to donate should also contact Tau Kappa advisor
Miranda Fisher at
MSFisher@ship.edu.
Project Prom Dress has raised more than $2,500 in its history selling dresses and related accessories. Each of the dresses is typically priced between $5 and $30 depending on the style. More than 100 people have attended this event in previous years.
Anyone with questions, information or potential donations can contact Fisher at
MSFisher@ship.edu.
