The 2013 Shippensburg University field hockey team was recognized Monday, March 30 with a citation by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for winning the NCAA Division II Field Hockey National Championship -- SU's first NCAA Championship in any sport in school history.
The citation was presented during session in the chamber of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by State Rep. Rob Kauffman of the 89th leglislative district (Cumberland & Franklin Counties). Jeff Michaels was also in attendance representing the Raiders. Each player was presented with an official copy of the team citation.
The Raiders went 20-1 in 2013, including a 2-1 overtime victory over LIU Post to win the national championship. SU had three NFHCA All-Americans, including Division II Player of the Year
Bre White , eight All-PSAC performers and 11 selections to the 2013 NFHCA Division II National Field Hockey Academic Squad -- including NCAA Elite 89 honoree Kauffman.
