SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Shippensburg University volleyball program has announced promotional events at each of its PSAC Eastern Division home matches this weekend -- a 7 p.m. contest Friday vs. UPJ and a 1 p.m. contest Saturday vs. Lock Haven.
On Friday, SU will be conducting a serving contest in between the second and third sets of the match against the Mountain Cats. Fans can donate $1 to serve on the court for an opportunity to win a prize such as a free t-shirt or pizza. All proceeds will be donated to the Gift of Life Donor Program Family House.
On Saturday, SU will be hosting a "Dig Pink" event. Fans are encouraged to wear pink clothing and donations will be collected for the Side-Out Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness.
The team has donated themed baskets that will be raffled off at the matches, with the proceeds again going to the Side-Out Foundation.
Side-Out was established in 2004 as a non-profit organization emphasizing the role of volleyball coaches, players and advocates seeking to provide education about breast cancer and conduct fund-raising opportunities to help current patients.
