Redshirt-freshman Tyhiem Perrin of the Shippensburg University men's basketball team was named the inaugural PSAC Eastern Division Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office after a solid weekend at the 2012 Wolf's Bus Lines Classic.

Perrin averaged 10.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game as the Raiders went 1-1, defeating Chestnut Hill before falling to Salem International.

Against the Griffins, Perrin came off the bench but was strong down the stretch and in overtime, providing eight points and 11 rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

He earned a start against Salem International and played 38 minutes, scoring 12 points and again grabbing 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. Perrin also had two blocks and two steals.

Shippensburg hosts Penn State Mont Alto at 7 p.m. tomorrow from Heiges Field House in its annual “Food For the Hungry” game. The Raiders will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable items prior to the game and all fans that bring a food item to donate at the game will receive free admission. The donations will then be given to local families in need through the King's Kettle Food Pantry.
