SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be hosting GatoradeFest, a single elimination Gatorade Pong tournament, in an effort to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The tournament will be held Thursday, April 9th at Heiges Field House.
Thursday's event is the first of its kind to be hosted by SAAC. All registration fees go towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Additionally, several on-and-off campus organizations will be on hand with alcohol awareness presentations, including the Cumberland County Drug and Alcohol Commission and the Shippensburg University Police Department. These groups are present in an effort to help offset the negative connotation of the term 'pong.'
“SAAC is very excited to host such an exciting event on our very own campus, and we think that the event has a ton of potential to be very successful and raise a lot of money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said SAAC President
Will Kane.
To encourage participation in the educational presentations, as well as the tournament itself, students will receive raffle tickets and will be able to enter various raffles to win prizes such as t-shirts, water bottles, coolers, Frisbees and other gifts.
