In her own words:
"I loved my time at Shippensburg as both a student and an athlete. Academically, small classes were very beneficial to me because I liked to have an involved presence to maximize my learning experience. I was a communication major, coaching minor, and I use both daily in my job where i have my own business as an online running coach."
"Athletically, I was able to be a part of a winning program where the expectation was high but achievable. This has been the way I approach life and my goals to this day."

2009 Outdoor Track In Brief: Spence made
history by becoming the first known athlete in conference history to win three PSAC Athlete of the Year awards (cross country, indoor track and outdoor track) in an academic calendar year. She was not only the athlete of the year for each sport -- she was also honored as the Freshman of the Year in all three seasons of competition. Despite posting outdoor automatic qualifying times in both the 1,500 and 5,000-meters, Spence only competed in the latter at the national championships but finished in 16:35.36 to become the first outdoor national champion in school history and the first women's outdoor All-American in the 5K since Emily Budnyk in 1999.
2009 Indoor Track In Brief: Spence was the anchor leg of the distance medley relay squad that obliterated the national championship meet record with a time of 11:24.54 (winning by 18 seconds) to become the first PSAC school to win a NCAA title in a relay. It was just the second women's national indoor track and field championship in school history after Kathleen Stec's 3000-meter title in 1988. At the PSAC Championships, Neely won the PSAC Meet MVP at the indoor meet after winning conference titles in the mile and 3K in addition to anchoring the first-place DMR. Her 3K of 9:35.87 broke the PSAC all-time record.
2008 Cross Country In Brief: In her inaugural season in a Raider uniform, Spence finished second at the 2008 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships to 12-time NCAA champion Jessica (Pixler) Tebo of Seattle Pacific
and posted the best individual season by any runner in school history. Neely's time of 21:27 (run in snow) helped her become SU's first All-American since 2003. She was named the PSAC Cross Country Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year in addition to earning the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year. T
wo weeks before that performance, she broke the course record at Cooper’s Lake Campground by 26 seconds to win the 2008 Atlantic Regional Championship by 58 seconds. Spence was also the individual champion at the 2008 PSAC Cross Country Championships, the first athlete in school history to achieve the feat. During the season, Spence finished second among a field of 301 primarily Division-I competitors at the Brooks Paul Short Invitational in October and her fastest time in the 6K was 19:59.
